The British Standards Institute: Business Continuity Management
As risks to businesses evolve and the number of disruptions
increases, the only way your organization can survive and
prosper is by being committed to business continuity management.
A Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) based on the best
practice standard BS 25999 provides a management framework that
gives you the necessary controls to address risks and monitor
and measure your organization’s ability to manage, and recover
from, disruptions. It can also help you to enhance your image
and reputation and, through independent certification, can
enable you to demonstrate the ultimate assurance to your
stakeholders that your business meets best practice.
BS25999: The Business Continuity Management Standard
Continued operations in the event of a disruption, whether due
to a major disaster or a minor incident, is a fundamental
requirement for any organization. BS 25999, the world’s first
British standard for business continuity management (BCM), has

The Business Continuity Institute
The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) was established in 1994
to enable individual members to obtain guidance and support from

over 4000 members in 85+ countries. The wider role of the BCI
and the BCI Partnership is to promote the highest standards of
professional competence and commercial ethics in the provision
and maintenance of business continuity planning and services.
The Business Continuity Journal
The Business Continuity Journal is a peer reviewed international
business continuity journal. Each issue provides unique very
high level content, which explores advanced business continuity
thinking and showcases the latest in business continuity
academic research. Each paper in the Business Continuity Journal
has been scrutinized by a panel consisting of experienced
practitioners, academics and subject matter experts. There are
currently three versions of the Business Continuity Journal: a
UK version; a North American version; and an international
version.
